Washington Indivisibles Join Nationwide ‘Hands Off!’ Protest to Defend Democracy
[WASHINGTON] — On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Washingtonians will participate in over 30 events around the state aligned with the national ‘Hands Off!’ day of action. This event is part of a coordinated effort across all 50 states to protest recent actions by President Donald Trump and Elon Musk that undermine democratic principles and disrupt essential government services.
The ‘Hands Off!’ National Day of Action has rapidly gained momentum, with grassroots organizations and concerned citizens demonstrating nationwide. Events will take place in cities large and small across Washington state including Vancouver, Olympia, Sequim, Bellingham, Spokane, Ellensburg, Seattle, and many more.
Nationwide, the over 1000 protests will respond to Trump administration policies detrimental to public welfare, including cuts to healthcare, data privacy concerns, job security threats, and the suspension of vital government services. Organizers emphasize the urgency of collective action to safeguard democratic institutions and public resources. This is expected to be the largest single-day protest since the Women’s March in January, 2017.
“They’re dismantling our country. They’re looting our government. And they think we’ll just watch,” warns the event’s website. “On Saturday, April 5th, we’re taking to the streets nationwide to fight back with a clear message: Hands off! … If we don’t fight now, there won’t be anything left to save.”
Organizers stress the importance of nonviolent action and community solidarity. They invite all concerned community members to join in this peaceful demonstration to send a powerful message in defense of democracy.
